LICENCE ASSESSMENT - GLS
Course Details
HART is accredited to provide Motorcycle training and assessment services on behalf of VicRoads.

About the Licence assessment
The Licence assessment is the last step in getting a motorcycle licence. You may be eligible to attempt the Licence assessment after:
· Holding a valid motorcycle Learner Permit for 3 consecutive months,
· Successfully completing a Check Ride (must be completed at least 1 month before attempting the Licence assessment)
The Licence assessment has strict pass/fail criteria set by VicRoads. You will complete two practical riding assessments, on the training range and the road.
Once you have passed all assessments and met all eligibility criteria, HART, on behalf of VicRoads, will issue you a restricted motorcycle licence.
HART provides all motorcycles, helmets, gloves and jackets for the duration of the course if required.
If you are converting an Overseas Licence, please contact the office on 9270 1377 to confirm the process you need to complete.
Why choose HART?
At HART, we understand that learning to ride a motorcycle is challenging. The quality of the training you receive has a huge impact on how well you learn the skills needed. HART is confident that our trainers are the best in the industry. Your experience will provide you every opportunity to learn what is required to be a safe and competent rider. So confident are we in the excellence of our training, if you don’t pass first time, your next attempt is free!
On the day
The Licence assessment is confirming that you are a safe and competent road rider. Before you attempt the Licence assessment, practice what you learned in the Check Ride and work on any areas raised. It can help to read over the Victorian Rider Handbook and check that you are applying the roadcraft that is shown.
Plan to arrive at HART at least 20 minutes before the scheduled start time. If you arrive after the course has started, you will not be allowed to join the course. Due to the nature of the training, HART is unable to catch you up or let you join a course that has already started. If possible, HART will endeavour to book you in to another course as soon as practicable. It is important that you arrive at least 20 minutes before your course start time to avoid disappointment.
You must bring with you:
- Your current motorcycle Learner Permit,
- Your completed Check Ride record sheet,
- Your car licence or Hazard Perception Test (HPT) if you do not have a car licence.
What to wear:
You must wear full skin coverage clothing from the waist down, no shorts, three quarter pants, torn or ripped jeans. Dress for the weather conditions, remembering that you will be outside for most of the session. HART will loan you a motorcycle jacket to wear during the session:
- You should wear jeans, or other full-length sturdy pants
- Boots or sturdy shoes
If you are fortunate enough for it to be raining on the day of your course, it will still go ahead. HART will provide you with wet weather gear to use during the course.
