Course Details

Course Content

This course addresses practical off-road motorcycling skills such as:

  • Posture – sitting, standing, and using your body weight to manoeuvre your bike

  • Braking – hard surfaces, loose surfaces, and controlling skids

  • Dealing with obstacles and water crossings

  • Low speed control and balance

  • Ascending and descending hills

  • Bike set-up – including crash protection, accessories & luggage

  • Throttle control

  • Planning a ride – route selection and safety considerations

The Instructors

Our instructors have extensive dirt bike and adventure touring experience.


  • Completing Off-Road Tech 1 is recommended

  • P's or above only

  • A suitable dual sport or adventure bike (all brands welcome)

  • Riders on a restricted license must ride a LAMS approved motorcycle.

  • Some off-road experience is helpful, but not essential.

Your motorcycle

  • Your motorcycle must have full registration and be roadworthy

  • We recommend your bike be fitted with hand guards and a bash plate

  • Off-road compatible tyres

  • All motorcycles will be checked for roadworthiness before the commencement of the course. Motorcycles deemed unroadworthy will not be allowed to be used on the course, and the course fees may be forfeited

  • Please advise your insurer of the training you will be undertaking to ensure that your policy will cover third party property damage during the course

Riding gear

Below is the minimum requirement for riding gear:

  • Full-face helmet, AS1698 or ECE 22.05 approved, with visor or goggles

  • Off-road or adventure type motorcycle boots

  • Motorcycle gloves

  • Motorcycle jacket with shoulder and elbow armour

  • Motorcycle pants with knee armour

Tyre Recommendations

Because of the types of surface we use during this course, including Sand, Mud, Gravel and Water crossings we recommend off-road biased tyres, e.g. Michelin Anakee Wild, Bridgestone TrailWing, Pirelli Scorpion or similar

Cost: $369.00

This course starts at 8:00am and usually finishes around 2:30pm, but your course may finish at a slightly different time, depending on weather conditions and rider fatigue.
