About the Pre-Provisional Rider Training Course
The Pre-Provisional Rider Training course runs for approximately 8 hours, and you need to provide your own LAMS motorcycle. You can also choose to hire a motorcycle from HART. This can be arranged at the time of booking.

To obtain a Certificate of Competence at the end of the course, you must be able to ride confidently on the road and successfully complete the Motorcycle Operator Skills Test (MOST). All the information you need to know about the Provisional rider's licence and the MOST can be found on the TfNSW website.

Licence restrictions apply to provisional rider licence holders, including the size of bike you are permitted to ride. You can find a list of approved motorcycles on the TfNSW website under approved motorcycles for novice riders.

Once you have successfully completed the course and passed the MOST, you will be issued with a Certificate of Competence. The Certificate of Competence is valid for 3 months from the date of issue. You must take the Certificate to Service NSW and pay the licence fee after which you will be issued with your Provisional licence.

Cancelling or changing your booking
You can change your booking, provided you give at least five (5) working days’ notice. A 10% administration fee will apply. There are no refunds in the following situations:

  • Bad weather conditions
  • Failure to attend your course

On the Day
Plan to arrive at HART at least 20 minutes before the scheduled start time. If you arrive after the course has started, you will not be allowed to join the course. Course fees are not refundable in this situation.
